Erfahrene Pflegende coachen Neulinge in der Pflege

Experienced nurses coaching newcomers to nursing: keeping hard-won experience – strengthening new colleagues – taking lasting pressure off nursing.

Around a third of all nursing staff in Germany will retire in the coming years. We preserve their valuable experiential knowledge and train them as coaches for the next generation.

Background: the knowledge gap ahead

Over the coming years, roughly a third of all nursing staff in Germany will retire. What leaves with them is not only professional expertise but irreplaceable experiential knowledge: practical routines, the ability to hold a team together, and the “institutional memory”.

This gap cannot be closed by young employees and internationally recruited nurses alone. Without a deliberate plan, the likely results are more pressure at work, higher staff turnover and a loss of care quality.

The idea: a new role in nursing

Many experienced nurses are looking for ways to keep contributing their knowledge beyond retirement age. With “Erfahrene Pflegende coachen Neulinge in der Pflege” we put exactly that potential to use.

  1. Training as nurse coaches

Experienced nursing staff – particularly those over 50 – are prepared for their new role in a training programme: at their own care provider they take on the induction of new colleagues.

  2. Ongoing support in everyday practice

They support new colleagues, returners and internationally recruited nurses directly in their day-to-day work – as colleagues, and with respect.

  3. Still active in retirement

The role does not end with working life: nurse coaches can carry on inducting new colleagues after they retire – which strengthens cooperation between the generations and recognition for older members of staff.

Get involved – starting September 2026

Are you a care provider that wants to improve its induction culture? Or an experienced nurse who would like to develop further? Provider organisations can get in touch now – places in the first round are limited.
